Sauvignon Blanc
Wine Region/Vineyards:
Cotesti Carligele, Eastern Romania
Wine Classification:
DOC-Cotesti, Dry Wine
Description:
Color: light yellow-greenish fresh straw
Nose: fresh fruits, aroma of citrus
Taste: lively but broad in mouth, notes of exotic fruits
Tasting Notes:
Vrancea-Cotesi is situated in the east of the country, it is slightly colder than the Dealu Mare region so the grapes take longer to ripe making this area ideal for Sauvignon Blanc.
It takes one month to ferment under a very low temperature, where the fermentation is not allowed to exceed 10˚C this gives the wine a very strong fruity character. Fresh straw in colour with a strong bouquet of gooseberries and ripe peaches, a good crisp acidity and strong gooseberry flavours and a long clean finish makes this wine a perfect accompaniment with food. (This is undoubtedly the best white wine to come out of Romania and certainly the first Sauvignon Blanc to have characteristics which resemble the variety)
Serving Temperature:
12ºC

Grilled Fish and shellfish, white meat

Description:
Colour: dark ruby
Nose: red fruits and vanilla

Romanian Pinot Noir is the most well known grape variety to come out of Romania.
Romania is one of the few places in the world that can produce good quality wines from this variety, which has always been a winemaker’s dream or nightmare. For us it has always been a dream. It is well-suited to the gentle slopes of the Carpathian hills having a cool morning mist which gives this wine its unique flavours, aromas and deep colour.
Dark ruby in colour, a mixture of red fruit on the nose with soft fruit and vanilla on the palate, still slightly young but has good length and staying power.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Wine Region/Vineyards:
Dealu Mare, Tohani, SubCarpathian Hills
Wine Classification:
DOC Dealu Mare, Dry Wine Full Body
Description:
Colour: good deep purple
Nose: spicy aromas and a hint of cherries

Tasting Notes:
Cabernet Sauvignon can sometimes be difficult to grow in Romania, however, the 2001 vintage was an exceptional year for Cabernet. The grapes managed to obtain full ripeness producing a fruity and soft tannic wine, which is unusual for Cabernet Sauvignon, it usually tends to have hard tannins and takes time to mature.
Good deep purple colour with strong spicy aromas and a hint of cherries on the nose and very fruity flavour, with good soft tannins that give this wine it very long finish.
